As part of the Rydges South Bank Brisbane redevelopment, D&E Air Conditioning partnered with Trafalgar to deliver an acoustic access solution that would support ongoing HVAC maintenance while maintaining the hotel’s interior design standards.
Trafalgar leveraged its in-house manufacturing capabilities to produce large Rw34 metal door acoustic access panels to meet the project’s acoustic attenuation requirements. Custom sizes of 1500x600mm and 900x900mm were manufactured to specification, powder coated in Rivergum Beige, and fitted with key cam locks for secure access.
The final solution delivered effective noise reduction while allowing D&E Air Conditioning to easily service the in-room units, maintaining a cohesive and high-quality finish throughout the hotel rooms.
The Challenge
Acoustic-rated access panels were required to effectively minimise noise transfer from the in-room air conditioning units.
• The solution needed to be manufactured in large, non-standard sizes to suit the project’s specific servicing points.
• Panels had to integrate seamlessly with surrounding finishes, meeting both functional performance and the aesthetic expectations of a hotel environment.
What did we do?
• Australian Made and Owned, Trafalgar Access leveraged its in-house manufacturing capabilities to design and produce large Rw34 metal door acoustic access panels to meet the project’s acoustic attenuation requirements.
• Panels were independently tested in approved laboratories to ensure high acoustic performance and compliance confidence for hotel environments.
• Custom non-standard sizes of 1500×600mm and 900×900mm were manufactured to specification, powder coated in Rivergum Beige, and fitted with key cam locks, delivering secure access, effective noise reduction, and a cohesive visual finish throughout the hotel rooms.
